Greetings Panther Builders,
We have updated the fuel tank install plan sheet named P-W-FT-rivet, screw layout. Changes that were made:
Corrected min dimensions for spar cap and stiffener hole clearance
Revised Cautions and notes for spar cap and stiffener hole clearance
Changed date to 9/28/2015
Changed to rev 1
Wing Spar Pins:
We are having a custom batch of wing spar pins made for the Panther, and they are 5-7 weeks before they will ship to us. You can use a Grade 5 bolt to mount/test fit the wings(not for flying). Then replace the Grade 5 bolt with the wing pins when they are ready.
Trim Cable lever:
These are being tested now, and will go into production next week. We will update you when they are ready to ship.
Rudder Cables:
Assembly on rudder cables is beginning now, and will take 2-3 weeks to complete. These will ship out as they become available, along with the cable fair leads.
Pre-Built Spars and Fuel Tanks:
We are now consistently producing one set of each every 1.5 to two weeks. Back logs will be caught up by year end.
Finishing Hardware Kit:
This will be wrapped up by early November. As soon as we have the component list complete we will post it.
Documentation:
We are simultaneously working on -
- Canopy system install BM, several advanced builders have various rough draft copies . Then final version should be available in a few weeks.
- Rigging Part 3
We are still working rigging part three ,and hope to release it in a few weeks
- We are working on various updates and additions like adding rudder and trim cable details to the BM
Flying:
The 40 Hr. test Phase has been accomplished on Bob Woolley's 0-320 Panther Sport. It will be going to paint in the next few weeks. Dan flew it last week, and will right up some comments soon.
Bob has tested several props on the 0-320, the Whirlwind ground adjustable, a Cato 3 blade wood, and the Sensenich ground adjustable. He settled on the Sensenich ground adjustable RV prop as the best all-around performance. Testing will continue so more info to come…
We have also tested a new prop on N515XP. We will be ordering another Sensenich prop based on this data. With this we will have some really good options for those using the Corvair in their Panther.
Up and Coming:
We will be testing aileron spades for those who enjoy really light aileron forces. After testing we will offer this kit with several different size plates so you can tailor the feel per your individual preferences.
We will be flying the 3.3L Corvair in the next 2-4 months.
